I have never shot Kaiser Woods with a digital camera.

Last Thursday was a dark day with occasional showers. This is an excellent opportunity to see if the Nikon Df, a digital camera, can give me some good results at that location.

I attached the Voigtlander 40mm Ultron 1:2 Lens to the camera, which can focus as close as 10 inches from your subject.

Most of the leaves have fallen.

Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) has a rugged-looking bark.

The bark of a Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata).

This young Broadleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) is destined to be eliminated. I do not know why, except perhaps its location next to an access road would cause a problem in the future. Part of the area is owned by logging interests, and 70 acres is owned by the City of Olympia. The city plans to develop their portion to make it more accessible to more people, including a 25-car parking lot with a restroom. I enjoy the area because there are so few people using it (https://www.olympiawa.gov/services/parks___recreation/parks___trails/kaiser_woods.php)

Scotch Broom (Cytisus scoparius)
