In 1942, during World War II, the United States set up 10 camps to detain 110,000 Japanese men, women, and children.

Most buildings are gone, but a few remain to remind us of what happened.

Each room is separated by a cloth partition.

The showers were also communal.

I developed the film in R09 Spezial (1:15) for 3 minutes, 45 seconds @20C. I did a two-minute presoak of the film. I scanned the negatives with the PrimeFilmXEs using VueScan. The Nikon F100, with either the 40mm Voigtlander F2.0 or the Nikon 28mm F2.8D Lens attached, was used to shoot the images.

Haunting photos. I read the book Farewell to Manzanar a few years ago – what a painful chapter of history.
