I have Rodinal, Diafine, HC-10, ID-11, and other black-and-white film developers on the shelf. I always enjoy adding complexity to my life, so I added another, XTOL, a developer made up of Ascorbic Acid and Phenidone (https://www.covingtoninnovations.com/xtol/ ). The developer has very little toxicity.

It is a two-step powder that mixes easily at temperatures between 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit to make 5 liters of developer.

The cemetery is about 2 acres and relies on volunteers to keep it in good condition (https://www.chronline.com/stories/finn-hill-cemetery-cleanup-planned-in-rochester,340071).

You can use the developer at full strength, similar to D-76. I used the developer at a 1:1 ratio, which required 9 minutes @20C, agitating every 30 seconds. I scanned the film with the PrimeFilmXEs using Silverfast 9 software. The camera was the Nikon F100, with either the Voigtlander Ultron 40mm F2 lens or the Nikon 28mm F2.8D Lens attached.

  1. Nice developer addition to the family. Did follow your link and the information details were….well, very detailed. For yourself, they are a fantastic source for knowledge. Had an internet look too on your Kodak film choice and it seems film and developer qualities are a marriage made in heaven. Interesting about how to catch check, with photography paper, that the developer hasn’t gone off. Very fine grain on your captures when looked at closely Steven. Again, a fine and well taken storyboard choice of subject to add to your collective. All the best.
