Yesterday was the opening day of the Thurston County Fair. A beautiful day with temperatures in the 70s.

I brought along my Nikon N90s with the Nikon 20mm 2.8D lens attached. I rarely go out with just a 20mm lens (a very wide-angle lens ), but I was curious to see if I could capture the spirit of the fair with it.

The film I chose to use was Phoenix 200, a color film made by Harman Photo. This is the fifth roll I have shot. I have not been satisfied with the results of the film in the past. It is very contrasty, does not have much exposure latitude, and has lots of grain.

The negatives showed all the film’s weaknesses, but I will shoot it again to see how it handles a different subject.

I developed the film with Cinestill’s C-41 developer. I scanned the negatives with the PrimeFilmXEs using VueScan software. I made a 13X19 print of the first image, which shows the young person and horse being judged, which came out very well.

Hmmm, this film is grainy. I hope Harmon keeps refining it. I’m glad you experimented with it. I wish the classic Kodak Gold 100 from the late-1990s and early-2000s was still in production.
