After a fine turkey dinner on Thursday, it was time to watch It’s a Wonderful Life. I have seen the film numerous times. I still await Mr. Potter’s redemption at the movie’s end. Perhaps a sequel is necessary, and another angel who needs to earn his wings can be sent to help Mr. Potter deal with his stony heart.

With that story in mind, let’s talk about this image. Here is a young man hired by the store inside to paint a Christmas scene on their front window. A few hours later, I stopped by, saw him cleaning up, and noticed the window was clean. What happened? Someone from the corporation who owned the building stopped by and saw his work. They informed him that the store had not asked them for permission to do this. He was ordered to remove it.

If you come to Seattle now, you will see that there is a strike at the Art Museum (https://hyperallergic.com/969283/im-a-guard-at-the-seattle-art-museum-this-is-why-we-plan-to-strike/).

The image above and the next two were captured at the corner of 5th and Pine. The young woman is requesting donations for a charity, Save The Children (https://www.savethechildren.org/). She was on one side of the sidewalk, and I was on the other.

Most people did not pay me any attention. There is always one who does.

I shot two rolls of film this day: a Kodak 400TX roll and a color roll, Ilford Ilfocolor. After shooting the two rolls, I noticed I had set the exposure setting to -1. I had already set the Kodak film to 800 from 400, so I shot it at ISO 1600. That necessitated using Diafine to develop the film. The film was shot using the Nikon FM3a, with the Nikon 50mm F1.8 Series E Lens attached. I scanned the negatives with the PrimeFilmXEs using VueScan. I developed the color roll this afternoon. The film did not push well. I will show the results in a couple of days.

  1. I really enjoy your expansions into the background story telling Steven. The photographs always speak for themselves. With the words and life’s insights in addition, they give us the ‘cherry on the top’. Thank you and all the best.

  2. 400TX, brings back so many memories. We bought ours in bulk and filled our own canisters. In those days color was just peeking up, my friend and I developed color slides a couple of times. It took 11 solutions with a couple of them needing just a 0.5F tolerance. Fun stuff, thanks for the memories.
