Once upon a time, we had a store called Macy’s. It was on the corner of Third and Pine near Westlake Park downtown.

They had, of course, a special Santa Claus for children from one to ninety-two.

And each year, the day after Thanksgiving, they sponsored the Macy’s Christmas Parade, which travelled along Fourth Avenue.

The Parade made its final run in 2019. The store closed its doors early in 2020.

Despite that, we can still find places to gather and enjoy the season. One of those is Pike Place Market. The music, food, gift and specialty shops, and friendly tourists make it a great place for people who live in the area to visit.

These images were created with the Nikon Zfc, a digital camera. I used two lenses, a TT Artisan 50mm F1.2 lens and a TT Artisan 25mm F2 lens.

Hello Steven! An excellent job capturing the spirit of the day! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season! …Cailín

I do enjoy your candid photo results. Such vibrancy in daily activities. And such welcoming smiles to your camera lens too. Capturing the spirit of the season wonderfully. Those two opening sentences of yours sound like a book’s opening lines. Said in one of those neo-noir detective voice overs. Or the start of a Christmas tale. You write with descriptive clarity.
Great colour developing in these Steven. So pleased you went with the ambition of taking to developing in this medium. The darkroom was always too problematic to consider back in the day, when I looked at processes. Not sure what it involved now though because of my poor memory skills. Never thought of solving the problem with scanner possibilities. All the best.
