On Saturday, I went to the Thurston County Fairgrounds. The Thurston Conservation District was holding its annual Native Plant Festival and Sale (https://www.thurstoncd.com/stewardship/annual-native-plant-festival-sale/).

The festival’s purpose was to educate people on the importance of avoiding planting plants considered invasive species and allowing them to purchase native plants. This was the first time I attended, and I had hoped that the plants would be outdoors so I could get images of all the native flora that was available. But it was all indoors in poor light. It is rarely 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the Pacific Northwest and Sunny on the first of March.

The only ones allowed indoors were those who had or were purchasing plants. The lines were long. Everyone in line had a written receipt for the particular plants they purchased. At one end of the building, the plants were stored and given out by volunteers.

The plants were picked up in large empty sacks.

It was probably the brightest day of the year.

I was not planning on creating images of people. What else could I do?

These images were created with the Nikon N75, using the Nikon 50mm 1.8 and the Nikon 28mm 1.8G Lenses. I developed the film with Cinestill’s C-41 Development Kit. I scanned the negatives with the PrimeFilmXEs using VueScan.
