It is Friday, the 15th of August. As I walked through the park, rain started falling. A beautiful atmosphere was created.

Grass Lake Nature Park (https://www.olympiawa.gov/Document_center/Services/Parks%20&%20Recreation/Parks%20&%20Trails/Grass–Lake-Mapv2.pdf) has undergone significant changes in the past year.

The major trail is now paved. People with various disabilities now have good access to a forest environment.

New signs next to the new trail.

Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)

I used the Nikon FM2 with the Voigtlander Nokton 58mm F1.4 lens attached to shoot the film. The film was developed in Rodina (1:25) for 7 minutes, agitating every 30 seconds. The negatives were scanned with the PrimeFilmXEs using SilverFast. I did a 2-minute presoak.

  1. Our local surgery is now prescribing ‘nature walks’ and small group activities in such places as you photograph. In earnest too. Especially amongst woodland and certain forestry like these photographs. We have a local woodland across the field from our garden wall where deciduous and evergreen presence is high. But very much a place to scramble through. The brilliant book ‘The Nature Fix’ by Florence Williams has shown that high standard research proves that these environments provide healthy outcomes and raise the biological immune response systems in humans. Simply from the presence of air borne particles and aromas from trees, plants, etc.

It’s fantastic that the provision of pathways to allow easy access to such opportunities has been made for all to use…as shown and explained by you here in your captures.

    Cheers and all the best.
