Along US 95, I came upon Rhodes Salt Marsh. The area gets little rainfall, and the rain that does fall ends up evaporating, leaving behind concentrated mineral deposits. One of the minerals left behind is salt. When the Comstock Lode, the first major United States silver mine, was discovered in Virginia City to the north, the salt in the area was mined and transported to the mine. Salt was an essential part of the extraction process (https://nbmg.unr.edu/_docs/Newsletters/nl7a.htm).

These images were created the following day as I travelled north on the highway.

I shot the film with the Nikon N2020, with either the Nikkor 50mm F1.2 or the Voigtlander Color-Skopar 28mm F2.8 lens attached. I developed the film in Rodinal (1:25) for 9 minutes at 20 °C. I agitated for 10 seconds every minute. I scanned the film with the PrimeFilmXEs using VueScan.

Nice, the great open spaces of the American West. The desert is appealing visually, but maybe not to live there. Delta 100 is an excellent film.
