Good Morning. I am writing from a hotel in Calabasas, Californian, a suburb of Los Angeles.

My wife and I are here to celebrate my granddaughter’s Quinceañera. I have thirteen grandchildren ranging from two to 30 years of age.

We left Olympia on Monday and drove Interstate 5 all the way. Yesterday after leaving Kettleman, a city in the San Joaquin portion of the Great Valley of California, we spent a couple of hours on a side road nearby.

Along with these images from the Nikon Z5, I was also able to shoot a roll of Ilford’s Ilfocolor. The area was dominated by grasses know as ‘Foxtails’, grasses that are invasive in California and turn a golden brown in late spring or early summer.

We are here for a week before we return. The return trip will involve driving through Eastern California, Nevada, and Eastern Oregon. A slower and more scenic way to travel.
