The salmon are already in the Puget Sound. Soon you will be able to visit the streams in the area and watch up close the struggle for life as the salmon march upriver to spawn. The festival of Steh-Chass celebrates the return of the salmon and educates how we can better manage our waterways and return as much as we can to their natural state. The Steh-Chass is the original name of the estuary in the Olympia area. The Steh-Chass also refers to the native peoples. They are also known as the Squaxin Island Tribe. Many environmental groups come to the event to showcase their work and purpose.
