Wednesday was a beautiful day to ride a bike. The sun was shining, and there were signs of Spring everywhere.

These images were created with my Pentax 645N. The shutter dial is broken, so I can only use Aperture Priority with Exposure Compensation. I have tried to have the camera repaired, but the parts are no longer available.

After pre-soaking the film for 2 minutes, I developed it in Rodinal (1:25) for 9 minutes at 20C.

I scanned the negatives with the Epson V850 using Vuescan software.

  1. Cameras hey! I had a sticky mirror on the Pentax LX. Finding someone to repair it was difficult. Once found, the repair work cost a fortune. Is there a spares and repairs 645n camera out there on the internet maybe. All the best.

    1. My 645N has no shutter speed button, it broke 2 years ago. The camera is held together with duct tape and I can only shoot in Aperture Priority. I have contacted numerous Pentax Repair people in the United States and they will not repair it. There are no parts available. My camera is still usable and I have bought a working 645. I have difficulty focusing with that camera. The only option is to buy another camera. I found no parts only camera buys but some working cameras are under $500.00 US.

      1. Nice to know Steven. I have that Pentax 645 myself. But have not produced prints due to the enlarger neg housing being 35mm sized. I like that you are still making use of the 645n. That’s a great acknowledgement to the broken, but still useful and productive, cameras to still cherish. All the best.
