The Great Basin is one of my favorite areas to explore. It is an area where all the precipitation drains internally.

The area receives 6 to 12 inches of rain annually, which creates semi-desert vegetation (https://www.britannica.com/place/Great-Basin).

While people are scarce, you will see lots of cattle (https://americancowboy.com/cowboys-archive/great-ranches-great-basin-buckaroo/).

The region’s geology is easy to access (https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=great%20basin%20geology).

It has been a wet spring, which led to difficult travel over some of the terrain.

These images were created with the Pentax 645N, with either the 75mm or 45mm 1:2.8 Lenses. I pre-washed the film for 2 minutes. I developed it in HC-110(B) for 7 minutes and 30 seconds @20C. I scanned the negatives with the Epson V850, using VueScan software.

  1. Nice work. I have visited the southern part of the Great Basin, the Mojave Desert, but wish I had spent more time on serious photography there. The Salton Sea and its fading resorts are quite interesting.
