These images were created with the Nikon FM3a, with the Nikkor 50mm 1:1.2 Lens attached. I developed the film with Cinestill’s C-41 kit and scanned the negatives with the PrimeFilmXEs using Silverfast.

On the 4th of April, I made the mistake of getting sick. I do not get sick often and am proud of myself for not coming down with Covid. My doctor told me a couple of months ago that I must have gotten it and was just asymptomatic.

On that Friday, I developed a fever. I do not remember the last time I had a fever. Other symptoms also manifested themselves that had to do with digestive issues. I asked my wife to go to the store and pick up a Covid test, just in case.

The test was positive.

I was very sick for about 6 days. I became very melancholy and decided to have nothing to do with photography ever again.

On Saturday, the 19th of April, I picked up my camera, loaded some film, and walked around Olympia to see if things had changed.

I do enjoy the color palette of this film.
Discarded mattress in the woods. It is gross; I saw hundreds of scenes like this in Mississippi.
But much more important, it is good to see you up, energetic, and recording your world again.

Good to see you back in the saddle Steven. So sorry you experienced the symptoms this time. Covid can really knock a person sideways. So well done for finding the tenacity to go out and take these photographs. And yes, I agree, the colour palette is really lovely. All the best.
