Much of the land is used for grazing. Nevada alone has over 200,000 cattle on the land (https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/indy-explains-why-nevadas-cattle-population-is-down-despite-record-profits).

Alfalfa, a legume, and many grasses are raised in the Great Basin as feed for the cattle. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kKW6Cwkem8)

The following two images are from the town of Cedarville, California. It is a community of 500 people and has a coffee shop, hardware store and food market. It also has a hospital, a surprise for a town so small. It was our favorite town on the trip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zze9g4_YnsY).

I shot the film with the Pentax 645N, with the 75mm F2.8 Lens attached. The film was developed in Rodinal (1:25) for 9 minutes @20C. I agitated the film for 10 seconds every minute. The Epson V600 was used to scan the negatives using Epson software.

  1. Lovely images Steven. The results remind me of when I was using vintage single grade paper. I seem to remember Number 2 was the lighter choice I made. I had Ilford and Kodak papers mostly. These photographs here have that wonderful ambience. All the best.
