It is Sunday morning, November 9th. The rain has stopped for a couple of days. Last Wednesday, it was still raining. I arrived via the train a little after 10 AM and walked around the city. I haven’t been downtown in seven months.

I had with me the Nikon FM3a, along with the Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 and the Voigtlander Color-Skopar 28mm f/2.8 lenses. I was shooting Kodak 400TX, pushed one stop.

I walked first through the International District. The area has been an area of concentrated homelessness, but I noticed that there were far fewer people living on the street. The city has been working diligently to address the issue (https://www.seattle.gov/documents/Departments/HumanServices/Homeless%20services%20resources/DON_2024_11_14_CIDResourceGuide%28en%29.pdf).

Then I visited Capitol Hill. Most residents of the area embrace a progressive culture.

Before moving to Olympia, the state capital, and 55 miles south of Seattle, I would visit the downtown area a few times a week. My lunch would typically consist of a slice of pizza purchased from this restaurant.

The city is changing rapidly. The infrastructure is being renewed, and several businesses are reopening. Westlake Park, located in the heart of the city, is undergoing a major renovation (https://downtownseattle.org/2025/09/westlake-park-to-close-for-major-renovation/).

I developed the film in Rodinal (1:25) for seven minutes at 20 °C, agitating every 30 seconds. I scanned the negatives with the PrimeFilmXEs using SilverFast SE and VueScan.
