Once upon a time, I dreamed of living in Tonopah. It is centrally located for those who enjoy traveling through the Mojave and Great Basin deserts. The town today has a population of around 2000. It was a town built on gold and silver mining, and it now relies on the history of those mines (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNPstyrjGOw).

I stayed a couple of days in Tonopah when the weather turned cold and wet. The inclement weather allowed me to walk the town and capture these images.

Every town needs a cemetery. The First Tonopah Cemetery was open for only about 10 years before all 300 spaces were occupied.

A car wash is available.

And Mac’s offers a haircut.

The town laundromat.

Diversity of opinion is allowed.

Opportunities abound for those interested in relocation.

The Mizpah Hotel provides visitors with lodging and offers a sense of the place’s history (https://themizpahhotel.com).

Besides gasoline, the town has a charging station.

These images were created with the Nikon FM3a. I used the Nikkor AIS 50mm F1.2 and the Voigtlander Color-Skopar 28mm F2.8 Lenses. I developed the film in Rodinal (1:25) for 7 minutes at 20 °C. I scanned the film with the PrimeFilmXEs using both VueScan and SilverFast.
