It was beautiful out this morning. The temperature was around 40 degrees. Light rain and fog permeated the setting.

I was checking out a zoom lens I own, the Nikkor 24-200mm F4-6.3 Zoom. I rarely use a zoom lens and need to decide whether to keep it or sell it.

Himalayan Blackberry (Rubus armeniacus)

Orange Honeysuckle (Lonicera ciliosa) climbing up a Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii).

Red Alder leaf (Alnus rubra)

It was very dark, so I had to shoot the images at ISO 3200. At 200mm, the minimum distance of the lens to the subject is 2.3 feet (.7 Meter).

Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata).

  1. Mellow and soft lighting, nice At internet display scale, your 24-200 lens looks great. (All modern lenses Look good technically nowadays). You can decide if ƒ/4 is a bit too restrictive.

    1. I used F8 for most of the shots. Even at F8 if the subject is close there is a limited field of view with the compression. The great thing about digital is using a higher ISO and avoiding a tripod. I do not think I used a zoom lens all year till this week.
