Practice makes perfect. But in using this film, I wonder whether I will put in the work to make it something I want to shoot.

Ilford XP2 Super is a black and white film you develop in color chemistry (https://www.ilfordphoto.com/xp2-super-35mm).

I used Cinetill’s C-41 kit to develop the film. When scanning the negatives as color film, I could not achieve a pure black-and-white image. One benefit of scanning it as a color film is that you can use the scanning software to remove dust. On black-and-white film, you need to manually remove dust from the negatives.

After failing to get a good color scan, I scanned the negatives again, this time as a black and white image. I also used the Epson V850 with its native software. VueScan with the PrimeFilmXEs scanner was problematic, even though the software has a separate option for XP2. I am sure there is user error involved.

I shot these images with the Nikon FM2, with the Voigtlander Ultron 40mm F2 lens attached.

I will probably give myself another chance to master the use of this film.

Yes please. Use the film and methods taken to get these results again Steven. These are glorious. The tones, depth, detail and subject choices are sublime. I love this ambience in black and white photography. The full on richness in the results. Cheers for sharing these and all the best.
