Every six months or so, my wife and I visit Mountain View Cemetery in Centralia. The Cemetery has fallen on hard times of late. Several years ago, the then-owner walked away, and the city took over until they could find a new buyer. This was about eighteen months ago. The new owners are also calling it quits and have put the Cemetery up for sale.

My in-laws’ final resting place.

My wife and I also have property here. This is where you will find me in a few years. The only problem with the site is the lack of shade in this particular area. As you can see, the site above gets direct sun all day. I will need to acclimate to the situation when the time comes.

I shot these images with the Pentax 645N, with the 75mm 1:2.8 lens attached. I developed the film in Cinestill’s C-41 developer. I did a one minute prewash at the temperature of the developer (102 °f or 39 °C). I noticed what I thought might be uneven development so I added the extra step. I scanned the negatives with the Epson V850 using VueScan.

The cemetery will probably follow others and be abandoned to the elements. In a hundred years, people will walk over crumbling tombstones with names that are no longer legible. Fortunately, I will not care. You can save the cemetery by purchasing it ( https://www.crexi.com/properties/2446894/washington-mountain-view-cemetery) If you do please put a tree near me.
I hope someone saves the cemetery, and gives it proper care. It always pains me when they’re not taken care of. Personally, I find it extremely disrespectful to our forbearers and to history itself when such is allowed to happen. Sadly, people today seem entirely preoccupied with self gratification and have zero respect for those that came before them, those that gave them the very freedom they have to be self-indulgent dirtbags. It’s sad.
