KUOW is Seattle’s NPR station. On the FM dial, you will find it at 94.9 FM. Most of the Puget Sound Region has no trouble picking up the signal. I live in the southern region of Puget Sound, the area encompassing Olympia and Tumwater. Here the reception is not always clear. In 2005 KUOW, which operates out of the University of Washington, bought the AM Station KVSN (1340 kHz) and took over their transmitter to ensure the area with adequate signal coverage.

The former station covered local high school sports, local church services, and other community events. That world is gone now.
