The Pacific Northwest has beautiful forests. When I moved into the area in 2002, I fell in love with the trees. It was also a shock when I saw my first clearcut. The city of Olympia still has areas where beautiful forests border urban areas. As the town grows, these areas are disappearing.

These images are from a 2-acre site within a block of my home. A facility to care for families in distress is replacing the trees.

There is no solution. We are an area that is growing. We need housing, and the infrastructure that supports it.

The images were created with the Nikon FM3a. The film was developed by Panda Labs in Seattle and scanned using Silverfast 9 and the Epson V850.

I’m with you on the tree situation. I feel a little sad that forested areas are cut down, even when I know that it’s necessary. The photos are great as usual.
