These are the last images of my trip to the Palouse Region. I have another roll of film from the trip, shot on the way home, which I’ll post later. These images are of the general area around Lewiston, Idaho.

It is too hot to visit the region in Summer. I went though the area when it was cooler. The area is still beautiful and with no one around it was quiet.

Here is a field of rapeseed (Canola) used as a rotation crop. Besides the economic factors involved in growing Canola… For Clark and his neighbors, canola also has become a popular rotation crop, particularly among wheat growers. Italian ryegrass has become an increasingly common and problematic weed in Eastern Washington, and since it comes from the grass family just like wheat, Clark said growers can not use herbicides that will combat the weed without killing their crop. Opting for the broad leaf canola plant as a rotation crop allows growers to spray their fields with herbicides that will knock down the ryegrass without affecting the canola plants. I took these images with the Nikon FM3a. I used three lenses, the Nikkor 50mm 1:1.2, the Voigtlander 28mm Color-Skopar 1:2.8, and the Voigtlander Ultron 40mm 1:2. I developed the film with Cinestill C-41 developer. I scanned the images with the Epson V850 using the Epson software.
